This Ripley's Believe It or Not! is housed inside an 1880s castle that was originally built by Standard Oil partner William G. Warden. It was later a hotel, owned by author Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings (“The Yearling”) and her husband Norton Baskin, before it became the chain museum. Some believe the place is haunted because of the many strange collectibles that are kept here, but the history of the castle also adds to the hauntings. Local legend says that Ruth Hopkins Pickering and Betty Neville Richeson, who perished in a 1944 fire here, were actually murdered first; their bodies were then burned by their assailant to cover his tracks. Ripley’s Ghost Train Adventure tells of the sightings of both ghosts, seen peering out the windows of their rooms. Mr. Ripley passed away in 1949 and visited the hotel frequently before it became one of his museums.

  • Its haunted

On the week of July 4th my family and I went to Ripleys Believe it or not. By the mummy coffin that opens and closes I recorded two orbs that came towards me and I remember feeling a rush of cold air come through me. I had totally forgot about it but later that night when I was back home looking at the videos I took there, it was clear that I had caught the two orbs on camera. They are clear as day.

  • Great Haunted Location

So me and my wife went there about a year ago for a vacation and me and her definitely got some pretty eerie stuff happening to us. When hearing the history of the place and then going around and exploring my wife felt a constant presence over her. When we were almost done with the tour we were in the pirate room when our EMF went off like crazy and we asked one of the ghosts if it was in there with us and me and her both heard like it was standing between our ears it whispered "I'm here". It was by far the scariest paranormal experience we have ever had. Will definitely go there again though.

  • Soldier ghost

I was talking to a soldier ghost through the spirit box, and I can't hear very well so I asked for his name multiple times and he kept replying, ''Seth, Seth, Seth''. I had heard the voice, but couldn't understand it. I thought he said smith! But then I asked again, and to my surprise, he replied ''SETH!'' not quite angrily but like he was tired of talking to me. I still didn't hear Seth, so I said ''Okay, Smith!'' He didn't respond or talk after that. I feel so bad!

  • Definitely best place I've been!

I had a ton of fun, I have a photo of one of the ghosts and was fascinated by the presentation they give in the beginning where I have it memorized. I hope I can go again and I recommend stopping by!

  • Castle Warden

We went on the castle tour with a total of 20 people. It started after the building was closed. We got EMF readers and laser grids. Some people had brief hits on their EMF readers. When we got by the mummified cat, my EMF reader spiked to 5.4. It continued alarming the rest of our tour consistently as if something was following us.

  • It's haunted

Funny I went to for haunted locations in St Augustine...to my surprise Ripley's Believe it or not was hands down the eeriest. We got there 30 - 440 closed and it was practically. I heard something running up a set of stairs behind my back loud enough that made me turn and look who it was to my surprise nobody was there no videos of the top floor. In the restroom I also had the feeling of someone inside with me I was 100% convinced as I heard jingling sound from the sink. I washed my hands and still a little longer to make sure I was correct to my surprise I was alone in the restroom nobody was in there as for the sound I heard next to me in the bathroom stall I can't explain it.

  • Sitting outside of it now!

I was reading an article about hauntings in Florida and I happen to be sitting in the parking lot of ripley's museum right now! Lol I have been in the museum twice over the weekend, and haven't seen anything out of the ordinary. I am going on the haunted train your tonight though. Here's to hoping we catch something! :)
